The Noise Diary is the audiovisual work of Adam Clark and Gretchen McNelis, creating immersive environments where electronic and acoustic composition, voice, instrumentation and generative visual systems converge into an evolving whole.

Rooted in the tension between organic and synthetic forces, the work moves between beauty and abrasion, order and collapse, intimacy and vastness. Composed structures coexist with instability and continuous transformation, creating environments that can feel meticulously constructed while remaining unpredictable and alive.

Rather than following a fixed narrative, The Noise Diary creates space for contemplation, emotional resonance and personal interpretation. Sound and image are treated as parts of the same environment, evolving in dialogue with one another as forms emerge, erode, fragment and reassemble.

In live performance, original electronic compositions are performed alongside acoustic and folk instrumentation, voice, and custom visual systems that respond and evolve in real time. Each performance becomes experiential and ephemeral, balancing composed form with controlled unpredictability and moments of chaotic beauty.

The Noise Diary extends across recorded music, audiovisual performance and immersive installation, as well as commissioned work for large-scale environments and international touring productions. Across each form, the underlying language remains the same: sound, image, atmosphere and transformation operating together as a single expressive experience.
